It has been a very interesting start to the 2020 Spring Nakoma season to say the least. I first want want to say that I hope all of you and your families are staying well during this challenging time. Although things are rapidly changing with the current situation, there is some good news! Here are some announcements as we start spring tennis at Nakoma.

If you don't already know, Nakoma Tennis courts are now available for member use. The Nakoma tennis courts will be open for play with extra precautions put in place for everyone’s safety.

Online Court Reservations: Online reservations are available. The tennis courts will be open as of April 24th. Reservations will be required to play. To reserve a court, you can go to: https://sites.onlinecourtreservations.com/reservations. When visiting the site for the first time, select "Nakoma Golf Club". You can then view the available court times. To reserve a court, click "Sign in" and use your email address, and use the password "tennis". You can change the password anytime via the log in screen. Once logged in, click the time that you want to reserve, select reservation length (1.5hr max), and Reservation Type is "Reserved Court". Contact Steve Klaas at stevek@nakoma.org if you have any problems.

The following guidelines are to be followed when using the Nakoma tennis courts.

  • No more than 2 players on the same court at one time (unless family); No more than 10 players allowed down at the courts at one time.
  • Players must bring their own tennis balls and water bottles. Tennis balls are available for purchase. Contact Steve Klaas if interested.
  • If playing with non-family members, players are not to touch the same tennis balls.
  • Please be respectful to fellow players and staff by practicing safe social distancing at all times before, during and after play; players are to stay on their own sides of the court, and can not use the same bench.
  • Private lessons are only available at this time (no groups lessons of two or more unless family members). Contact Steve Klaas to set up lessons.
  • Semi private lessons will be allowed (2 players) only if in the same family. (I.e. siblings, husband and wife, same household).
  • During lessons, members are not allowed to touch the tennis balls. The hopper will be used by Tennis Pro to pick up all the tennis balls. Members grab their items and leave while Tennis Pro picks up the balls. Hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes will be on the bench during lessons. Benches will be wiped down after each lesson.
  • Players are encouraged to bring their own antibacterial wet wipes and hand sanitizer for use before, during and after play.
  • Although tennis pro shop is closed, contact Steve if you need any product or services (e.i. racket restringing, grips, can of balls, shoes, rackets, etc).
  • After your round please take advantage of our expanded carryout menu for curbside pick up as you head safely home!

Tennis Gear and Apparel

Although the tennis pro shop is closed, I can still offer restringing services and order tennis product (rackets, shoes, bags, etc). Curbside and delivery available! :-) I will be sending out an email next week with information about our annual Babolat shoe order. More details to come.

Private Lessons

As mentioned in the Nakoma Communication email, I am able to offer one on one private lessons. I will be using the safety guidlelines listed above during lessons (Only I can touch and pick up balls, stay on opposite ends, etc). Please reach out to me at stevek@nakoma.org to set up lesson times.
